SCOTTISH BLOOD METAL

Achren Biography:

“A fearsome live act”, “An onslaught in it’s own right” and  “Brutally technical death/black/thrash with the shredding and violence turned up to 10” are some of the phrases used by the UK’s leading metal magazines to describe Achren.  Achren are a malevolently aesthetic blend of black, thrash and death metal, giving them a rarely heard type of extreme sound.

Achren were forged in early 2003 when drummer Gordon (formerly of Sweden’s Coercion) joined Scott (vocals/guitar) and Callum (guitar).  Until July 2005, the three plied their screaming, growling, cutting, pounding sonic violence up and down the UK, releasing two essays in the craft of extreme black thrash: their first release Fury of the Northmen and the widely hailed Wings of War.  At this point Miranda joined Achren on bass, having proven her skills in her previous project (The Sulphur Children).  Miranda has added the necessary force to create a musical weapon of the deadliest construction.

The end of 2006 saw Achren voted into the top ten of Terrorizer Magazine’s Best Unsigned Band category of the readers’ poll.  Live shows for the latest Blood Metal CD began in early 2007 with the band being asked to play a headlining slot at the Glasgow Cathouse promoted by Scotland’s biggest metal promoters, CPL, as the first of a new monthly Glasgow/Edinburgh metal double header.  The night saw Achren build on their previous notoriety in their home town, followed by a successful tour of Finland in May 2007.

The start of 2008 saw Achren record the Blood Soaked Banner single with acclaimed metal producer Dave Chang, bringing the Achren sound to a new level. Achren play Scottish Blood Metal and take no prisoners with it. Achren are seeking label support so interested parties can contact us at band@achren.com.
